Mundo Pixar CDMX has wowed the entertainment industry with seven consecutive successful movies. Unlike other studios who often release one film after another, they are able to maintain critical and consumer respect by refusing to churn out mediocre content just to make money. What they do is create films with characters you care about and a story that draws you in. This is not easy to do, but the studios that do it well are rewarded with respect and billions of dollars on opening weekend.
THE PIXAR STORY is an enlightening documentary that looks at the creative process behind a company that has had such tremendous success in movie-making. The studio is a melting pot of outside-the-box thinkers and the camaraderie between directors like Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter and Andrew Stanton is evident in every interview. The doc also does a good job of explaining the process behind Pixar’s movies including how color scripts are developed and how sketches and production artwork help to shape the finished product.
Pixar’s Most Memorable Stories: A Journey Through Imagination
In addition to providing an inside look at the Pixar process, THE PIXAR STORY is also packed with wonderful stills from their films. Even if you have seen the movies many times, details will pop out at you like never before.
The doc also pays tribute to the art of hand-drawn animation and how Pixar is reluctant to completely abandon it in favor of computer-aided animation. A large swath of the film also deals with how the studio has come to realize that it is the story that drives their films and that it is only through storytelling that inanimate objects can truly come to life.
